*** Akib Hasan Shad is a committed legal scholar, emerging Human Rights Activists, and dedicated Journalist with a strong passion for justice, equity, and rule of law. He currently serves as the Research Affairs Secretary for the Bangladesh region at Access to Human Rights International (AHRI) — a global platform dedicated to promoting, protecting, and defending fundamental human rights across borders.
In his role at AHRI, Akib Hasan Shad leads research co-ordination and legal documentation efforts related to human rights abuses, constitutional developments, minority protection, access to justice, and international law. He works closely with activists, legal professionals, and civil society to compile accurate reports, develop strategic recommendations, and support campaigns on behalf of marginalized and oppressed communities.
His responsibilities include:
- Overseeing human rights research initiatives in Bangladesh and South Asia.
- Drafting legal briefs, policy analyses, and advocacy reports for international stakeholders.
- Organizing webinars, training sessions, and forums on human rights education.
- Collaborating with international bodies and rights organizations on fact-finding missions.
Akib Hasan Shad brings to AHRI not only his legal training — having completed his LL.B (Honors) from Dhaka International University (DIU) — but also his experience as a journalist specializing in legal, social, and crime reporting. His writing has been featured in several national platforms, where he amplifies critical issues affecting the rule of law and justice in Bangladesh.
